Platoon Staff

Platoon Staff

The Platoon Staff is there to help keep order in the class, set the example, guide cadets, and to streamline the learning process. The term "platoon" simply refers to the class period; the number has no significance.

The Platoon Commander is the "parental figure" of the platoon. Their primary job is to delegate tasks and ensure each staff member is carrying out the work. They must perform as the decision-maker and must assume the responsibilities of their subordinates. Additionally, they will afford avenues for advancement, recognize and reward outstanding skills, and maintain the well-being of the platoon.

The Platoon Sergeant decentralizes authority, advising and supporting the Commander. They are responsible for the platoon's daily activities, including PT, inspection, moving from task to task, explaining instructions, etc.

The Platoon Guide serves as a mentor for cadets. They often help individuals with tasks and are an aid to the platoon.

Third and Sixth Platoon are "rookie" platoons for new cadets, taught by Colonel Neely.
